Rapid urbanisation and mega cities are clearly mega-trends
By Esa Muukka, CEO of Nivos Corporation
Esa Muukka is CEO of Nivos Corporation, who won the Finnish Climate Action of the Year in 2016 (Finnish Energy sustainability forum) for recycling Yandex datacenter waste heat to district heat, in Mäntsälä, Finland. The city of Mäntsälä, won the EHPA Heat Pump City of the Year Award in 2015.
He is also a Board Member of many companies. To mention some: Suomen Voima Oy ( Finnish Power), Virta, the EV Charging Company, Nivos Energy, Nivos Water, Finnish Heat Pump Association (SULPU), Chairman of the Board Association of Finnish Energy Directors etc.
Muukka is a futurist who sees many opportunities in the transition to the energy sector. As a talented business and change leader, Muukka has unambiguously united various industries and created new businesses.
His opinion is that rapid urbanisation and mega cities are clearly mega-trends that cannot be stopped. This means that energy is used even more in the cities, which makes the well-designed energy system essential, for tackling the challenge of climate warming and energy efficiency. Decarbonisation is a very important part as well. Consequently, if we fail in cities, we lose the fight against global warming.
#DecarbCities is a conference organised by the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA)
